The Business Development Engineer plays a key role in identifying and developing strategic business opportunities to grow the company’s sales and market share. This role requires a combination of technical knowledge, communication skills, and sales expertise. The BD Engineer will work closely with internal teams and clients to understand technical needs and offer suitable solutions, build partnerships, and lead client engagements from initial contact to contract signing.
Identify new business opportunities and generate leads through market research, networking, exhibitions, and online platforms.
Understand customer requirements (technical and commercial) and provide appropriate solutions with the support of the engineering team.
Prepare and deliver technical presentations to clients explaining products, services, and capabilities.
Collaborate with product, R&D, and sales teams to align client needs with company offerings.
Develop, negotiate, and close commercial offers and proposals.
Manage long sales cycles and maintain regular follow-ups with clients, partners, and consultants.
Support the preparation of tender documents, RFP responses, and project quotations.
Attend industry events, trade shows, and exhibitions to represent the company and build connections.
Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including contractors, consultants, distributors, and end-users.
Analyze market trends, competitor offerings, and pricing strategies.
Report on business development performance and pipeline progress weekly/monthly.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or related field).
2–5 years of experience in business development, technical sales, or pre-sales in the engineering or fire safety/security/electronics sector.
Strong technical background with the ability to understand and communicate technical concepts clearly.
Proven ability to generate leads and close deals in a B2B (Business to Business) environment.
Experience working on government projects, tenders, or international trade is a plus.
Proficient in preparing presentations, business proposals, and cost estimations.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills.
Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
Knowledge of CRM software (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce) and Microsoft Office tools.
Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Fluent in English (written and spoken). Knowledge of [local language] is a plus.
Experience in the fire protection, safety, security systems, or building automation industry.
Knowledge of NFPA, EN, or other international fire/safety standards.
Willingness to travel frequently both locally and internationally.
